Founded in 1988, Child Development Schools is headquartered in Austin, TX operating over 260 childcare centers in 11 states. Our three early childhood education brands are Childcare Network, Sunrise Preschools, and My Small Wonders. We proudly provide quality care and developmental education to over 30,000 children aged six weeks to twelve years. 

 

We have a great opportunity for a Vice President of Education, Training and Process Improvement to join our growing company!

 

The Vice President of Education, Training, and Process Improvement is responsible for overseeing and implementing strategies to enhance the education and training programs within the organization. This role will oversee,  develop and execute training initiatives, design curriculum, and ensure that employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively. This crucial role leads and develops strategies to enhance organizational learning, employee development, and process improvements.

 

This executive is responsible for creating programs and initiatives that drive continuous education, training effectiveness, and operational excellence across the organization. Additionally, the Vice President of Education, Training, and Process Improvement identifies areas for operational enhancement and processes and documentation and streamlining workflows and implements best practices to optimize operational efficiency across the organization.

 

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Contribute to the development of the organization's strategic plan, particularly in areas related to education, training, process improvement and talent development.
  • Identify trends, best practices and advocacy needs in early childhood education and recommend strategies to stay current and move the industry forward.
  • Collaborate with functional management teams to assess training and development needs as well as to gauge the effectiveness of established programs.
  • Analyzes outcomes to determine ROI and recommend changes to programs and budgets.
  • Provide visionary leadership in the development and execution of educational programs within our schools.

 

Education and Training Programs:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant education standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with curriculum development teams to create age-appropriate and effective educational materials and resources
  • Design, implement, and evaluate training programs for teachers, administrators, and support staff.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the organization.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training initiatives and make improvements as needed.
  • Develop standards and methodology to prepare high-quality materials for in-person or virtual courses and self-study programs.
  • Oversee the development of innovative ECE programs and services that meet the community's evolving needs.
  • Oversees and approves the selection of software or collaboration tools used for training.
  • Establishes the appropriate metrics to use for the evaluation of training effectiveness.
  • Address any issues related to program quality and implement corrective actions.

 

People Development

  • Responsible for driving Training, Education, and Operational succession planning.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering education, training, and continuous improvement programs that effectively improve quality in our centers and reduce turnover of our team members.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and career development opportunities to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages personal and professional growth.
  • Performs company-wide, top-to-bottom talent assessment
  • Mentor, develop, and empower multi-site, multi-state, distributed leaders to manage their businesses at high levels of financial success.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.

 

Process Improvement:

  • Lead efforts to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and eliminate bottlenecks across departments.
  • Implement robust procedures to streamline operations and enhance performance.
  • Use data-driven methodologies like Six Sigma, Lean, or Agile to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with department heads to standardize procedures and ensure consistency across the organization.
  • Implement technology solutions to improve workflows and processes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging teams to seek innovation and enhancement in their day-to-day operations.

 

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the budget for the education and training department.
  • Ensure financial resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
  • Conduct collaborative Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly Business Reviews – manage the business based on data, increase accountability, and measure and track progress
  •  

Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand business needs, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert on education, training, and continuous improvement strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Child Development, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 10-12 years of experience managing cross-functional teams and working with senior leadership on company-wide initiatives; 5-7+ years of leadership experience overseeing multiple teams, departments, or large projects.
  • Proven track record in education, training, or organizational development, with experience in managing large-scale training programs.
  • Extensive background in process improvement initiatives, with demonstrated experience in implementing operational efficiencies.
  • High energy level, charismatic team builder who can bring people with diverse backgrounds into the business at all levels.
  • A passion and contagious energy for early childhood development.
  • Strategic thinker that is highly analytical and organized.
  • Strong leadership skills and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exhibits passion and contagious energy for early childhood development.
  • Demonstrates customer-first orientation that builds customer and brand loyalty.
  • Providing both strategic as well as tactical direction.
  • Attracting and developing key talent.
